The Washington, D.C. Chapter was established in 1930 and currently has 31 active members and 10 Lifetime members.
We were honored to welcome in three (3) new members this year: Lorie Jackson, Lisa McCurdy-Hankins and Lisa Mushaw.
In 1930, the documents establishing the Gay Northeasterners Washington Chapter listed 15 young women as charter members. This group included Catherine Grey Hurley, Annette Hawkins Eaton, LaVerne Gregory West, Beatrice Walker, Rosa Montgomery and Kern Blackburn.
We are proud to have three (3) generations of active NE members in our chapter! Matriarch Bebe Price, her daughter Kelly Price Noble and granddaughter, Rachel Aberneth (Kelly’s daughter). An additional fun fact, Charlene Drew Jarvis (sister to Bebe) is also an active member in our Washington, DC chapter. This legacy of wonderful women continue to bring joy, love and friendship to the Northeasterners.
